The Town of Rowesville Town Hall was completed in 2019 and designed to look like a old train station. During the 1700s, one road led from Orangeburgh District to Charles Towne. An artesian well on the edge of Michael Christopher Rowe’s plantation was fitted with a pump and was known as Rowes Pump. A village grew around that pump and in the 1840s, the Branchville & Columbia Railroad built a depot at the Rowes Pump, calling it Rowes Pump Station. The town was incorporated in 1876 as Rowes Pump and later renamed Rowesville.
Location: Rowesville, South Carolina.

Good afternoon,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Kayra Rice, and I serve as the Community Engagement Specialist with the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation (CHPP). We are a nonprofit organization providing free legal services and resources to help families protect their land and resolve heirs’ property issues.
I would appreciate the opportunity to give a brief presentation to your Town Council to share how CHPP can support families in your community through free wills clinics, land and home assistance, and forestry services.
Here’s how we make a difference:
Legal Assistance – From title clearance and wills to family mediation and quiet title actions, we help families resolve property issues and secure their land for generations to come.
Forestry Education – We support landowners in converting wooded land into sustainable tree farms and advocate for agricultural rights, ensuring land remains a valuable asset for the future.
Outreach Programs – We host engaging presentations, seminars, and workshops featuring attorneys and foresters, offering vital information at community events to raise awareness about heirs’ property.
Please let me know if this would be possible at an upcoming council meeting. I’d be happy to provide additional details or coordinate a time that works best.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Warm regards,
Kayra Rice
