Coggeshall Building

The Coggeshall Building was built ca. 1905. The Coggeshall family opened their dry goods store beginning in 1893 and moved to this building in the first decade of the twentieth century. It was the second oldest general merchandise store in the county.  The family operated the store until the 1980s. The building was damaged in fires in 1925 and 1995, mostly on the second floor

  1. Hi my name is Joe, I’m in progress of purchasing the Coggeshall building in Darlington Downtown Historic District. I was just wondering if you have the history of the building and ownerships. Anything you may have like pictures or anything about the building. Thank you.

  2. Lurline Coggeshall was the owner for decades but she passed away back in the 1994. She lived across the street from my grandparents house and was my grandfathers first cousin. We knew her well. After she passed away I assume it went to her children.
