The Winnsboro area of Fairfield County has been served by a Presbyterian congregation since before 1773. Wateree Church was renamed Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church and relocates here around 1800. The present building, which was completed in 1869. The steps from the 1800 church are still onsite

Henry Clarence Davis graduated West Point and entered the Army as 2nd Lieutenant. He served as a Professor of Military Science at Mississippi A&M, then at West Point. On March 8, 1898, he was transferred to the 7th Artillery in Puerto Rico where he was promoted to Major. He then taught thousands of Army and Navy personnel about mines and artillery. He retired as a Colonel, only to be recalled in WWI to teach commanding officers at USC →
