The Century House

The Century House was built in 1853 for James Buchanan Coleman to replace the previous home that was on the land of the former Rosborough plantation. Thomas Hines Coleman, the founder of the Florida State School for the Deaf and Blind, was born in this house in 1885. The Century House is best known for serving as headquarters for General Beauregard from February 17th through February 19th after he evacuated Columbia in 1865.
