Massey-Doby-Nisbet House was built ca. 1790 by the Massey family. John M. Doby inherited the house after 1824 when he married Elizabeth Massey. In 1895, Edward William Nisbet purchased the home. Nisbet was a farmer and merchant in the Van Wyck and Waxhaw communities.
