Thorntree – Witherspoon House

Thorntree was built by Irish immigrant James Witherspoon in 1749. It is the oldest known residence in the Pee Dee area of South Carolina. Most Revolutionary era homes in the Kings Tree area were burned, but the home and plantation were saved. The Thorntree Plantation fell into disrepair and the home was saved by the Williamsburg Historical Society and moved to a park in Kingstree.
