  1. Just trying to get information, my great grandfather x5 was John Lemacks born in 1745 , married Eliza Ann Haynes. Any information would be helpful.

    1. I remember seeing the Lemacks house on “the farm” when I was little. It’s torn down now. When we were children and would be there at dusk, we thought there were ghosts. We were told a story about someone being bitten by a rabid fox and since there was no treatment back then, the person was chained in the room until they died.

      1. John Lemacks once’s opened the plantation. He grew rice. He was born in 1745. There is a street named after our , Lemacks St. I’ve been searching for years about our family history. And finally traced it back to Walterboro. My father didn’t know anything about his family history. Would love more information.

  2. That was my great-grandfather’s house! I have interesting memories of it as it had much dark wood inside and was a bit scary for us little kids. I remember attending one of my great-aunts funerals that was held in one of the rooms. There was also a joggling board in the back yard that we would play on. I’m glad it is being maintained.
