Yogi Bear Honey Fried Chicken was founded by Gene Broome in the 1960s. The first location was in Myrtle Beach and the chain expanded with this store in Hartsville by 1968. The restaurant chain Hardee’s took notice of the rapid expansion and purchased the company. Hardee’s immediately neglected the chain and by the late 1990s, only this location remained.
