Herndon Terrace was built 1845-1848 likely for John Newton Herndon. This was the main house for the Herndon Plantation that was located near Lockhart. The home is also know W.E. Thomson House after William Elias Thomson whom married John Herndon’s daughter Adelaide. The building behind the house is a former slave cabin.
