Hi Chris…I am trying to learn all I can about this home — the R.P. Hamer, Jr. home — and I ran across your piece. R.P. was actually my ggg uncle, and I would like to learn more about the home, and possibly even see it before it is gone. I know it’s been a while, but anything you can offer would be helpful and most appreciated. Thanks, Charlie
I was at Hamer Hall a couple of years ago taking photographs. I talked with the wife briefly as her husband had died who was the Hamer that owned this place last. I can’t recall his name as there are several Hamers in the area. The house seems to be in relatively good shape and I don’t think it’s going anywhere too soon, barring any natural disasters. I was very surprised to see that the landscaping is not very well kept up around the house. There were goats in the front yard and on the front porch. They had eaten just about anything edible in that yard. The old photograph show some nice flora around the house and it simply is not there anymore.
