The McLaurin House was built ca. 1880 by John Bethea McLaurin, a local farmer and a physician.. The current house incorporated elements from a house built here ca. 1800 that J.B.’s father, John L. McLaurin, had purchased in 1837. Both of J.L.’s sons would serve in the state general assembly.
