The Midway Presbyterian Church was established ca. 1801 and this current building was built ca. 1850. I was named midway because it was located midway between the Salem and Williamsburg churches.

My Great-great Granddaddy was Rev. Philip J. Pierson and preached there from 1838 until he died in 1873. He was married to Maria Amelia “Milly” Gaither and he is buried in the cemetery across the road. He died on Nov.9th, 1873. The family story is he died in the pulpit during his last service.
