The Gasque-Clemmon Building was built ca. 1904. The building is listed as a bank in 1904, 1909, & 1915. Later John Ralph Gasque owned the building. Gasque never graduated high school, but became a lawyer, then later elected to the State House and the State Senate. Gasque’s state political career ended after a being convicted of conspiracy and 4 counts of submitting false employment records for payment by the federal government.
