The Judge Edward Colgate Dennis House was built ca. 1911. Judge Dennis started as a teacher in Claussen, then Kingstree, and then Edgefield. As a lawyer, Dennis practiced law in Darlington from 1901 until 1923. He was the Mayor of Darlington 1911-1912, a member of the SC Legislator 1919-1920, then Circuit Judge 1923-1945.
