Kershaw-Cornwallis House was reconstructed in 1977. The original house was likely constructed around 1760 for Joseph Kershaw. In 1780, during the Revolutionary War, Lord Charles Cornwallis occupied the house. The home was burned during the Civil War. The original foundation was uncovered during an archaeological dig in 1968 and the reconstructed home was built upon that foundation.
