← This unusual looking building near Florence on Old Marion Hwy is a fixed beacon for aircraft pilots. It is a VHF Omni-Directional Range (VOR) that was deployed in the US in 1946. While GPS is the standard now, many VORs are still used as a navigational aid
. The 3rd SC State House started construction in 1854 and was finished in 1903, delays in construction were caused mostly by the civil war and the burning of Columbia. This picture was taken June 6, 2015. Notice the monument is sporting a flag that has since been moved →
