The Nicholls-Crook House is a tale of two stories, both about a planter that built a house.

1. It was built in 1793 by Thomas Williamson and sold to Jesse Crook in 1813.

2. It was built ca. 1800 by Jesse Crook.

Either way, Crooks’s wife was the daughter of Revolutionary War heroine Kate Barry (Battle of Cowpens). The home was passed onto Crooks’ daughter, Katie, and her husband, George Nicholls.
