Von Lehe was born in Oconee County and moved to Walterboro after purchasing the Rock Spring Plantation in the 1900s

In 1967, the Carolina Foothills Garden Club started the idea of turning the area into a Park. It was not until the 1980’s that the park developers took hold of their vision.
