The Winnsboro area of Fairfield County has been served by a Presbyterian congregation since before 1773. Wateree Church was renamed Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church and relocates here around 1800. The present building, which was completed in 1869. The steps from the 1800 church are still onsite

In 1865, the Greenville Columbia Railroad wooden trestles were burned down during the civil war and still can be seen when the river level is low
