The Pine Grove Rosenwald School in the St. Andrews area of Columbia was built in 1923. The layout of the Pine Grove Rosenwald School is a variant of the two-room schoolhouse published as Rosenwald Community School Plan No. 2-C

The Hope Rosenwald School was built in ca. 1926. The school was named for James Haskell Hope, the South Carolina Superintendent of Education from 1922 to 1945, because he sold more than 2 acres of his land for the “gift-like’ price of $5 to the Trustees of School District No. 60 for Newberry County, South Carolina in 1925

The Gifford Rosenwald School was built ca 1921 and operated until 1958. The Rosenwald Fund matched local donations to built the school at a cost of $3,225. The Rosenwald Fund was established in 1917 by Julius Rosenwald and his family for “the well-being of mankind.” Rosenwald became part-owner of Sears, Roebuck and Company in 1895, serving as its president from 1908 to 1922, and chairman of its board of directors until his death in 1932
