Wealthy Columbia merchant Ainsley Hall had this mansion built in 1818. It was sold to Wade Hampton I in 1823. it was used as a headquarters for the Union Army in February of 1865 and later saved by a local nun during the Burning of Columbia

This church began in 1823 as Edgefield Village Baptist Church and this 3rd sanctuary was built in 1914. In 1826, the Furman Academy and Theological Institution was established in Edgefield as a result of efforts by the church. The Academy later became Furman University in Greenville

Givhans Ferry State Park was donated by the city of Charleston in 1934 and was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Its namesake, Phillip Givhan, was a ferry master on the Edisto River and operated Givhan’s Ferry, which allowed access between Augusta and Charleston
