A mission church is believed to have existed as early as 1760 and Bethesda was formally organized about 1770. It is one of the oldest churches in the South Carolina Upcountry and is also one of the four original Presbyterian churches in the state’s old York District

Liuet. of Rangers, Captain and Delegate to S.C. Prov. Congress 1776. Colonel of Militia New Aquisition. Elder in Bethel Church. In consideration of his uprightousness he was made commissary by his Whig neighbors and his house was despository for supplies

Firefighters from numerous communities battled the inferno at The Unity Presbyterian Church founded in 1788. The Unity Presbyterian Church is located on Tom Hall Street in the hear of Historic Fort Mill. Parishioners of the church say there are thousands of members of the church. Just the past weekend the church was a part of a historic tour through the Town of Fort Mill. The cause of the fire is under investigation
