In 1845, Limestone Springs Female High School was founded in this building by Dr. Thomas Curtis and his son, Dr. William Curtis, as the first women’s college in South Carolina and one of the first in the United States

The building consists of a one-story base, three-story shaft section, and one-story capital with a Corinthian order cornice. The hotel was designed by H. Olin Jones of Greenville

Finally, in 1903, the Sacred Heart Church was constructed and dedicated. It was used until 1914. This Church (now Our Lady of Perpetual Help) was constructed and dedicated May 24, 1914
